BTW: While here, I found myself another Dakota. It was right next door to the webcam. Now if I can convince the owner to give it to me 😉
Afterwards, we had dinner at a Sonic Fastfood and washed the truck up at the car wash.
We’ve Arrived at Lone Duck Campground
We’ve arrived at Lone Duck Campground in Cascade, CO
Last Chance
A little town in the middle of no where. Last Chance once had a Dairy King but it was obviously closed due to the lack of business. Nothing else, Nada, Zip, Zilch! Just a cross road going off in 4 directions, on nearly flat and treeless land, for as far as the eye can see with nothing else in view. It reminded me of the classic line from the movie “Dumb & Dumber” when Harry said to Lloyd, “I thought the Rocky Mountains would be taller”. I guess you have to be further across Colorado before you start seeing the “mountains”. Who Knew?

Log by Walt_Felix for Patriotic Rock (Traditional Cache) We picked up the Missouri Mike travel bug from the Patriotic Rock cache, who is hitching his way out to Utah. We’ll give him a ride as far as CO.
Walt-n-Ingrid – Tuesday July 11th
Leaving Grimes this morning for Brush, CO. Along the way, we’ll be making stops at the Patriotic Rock Geocache in IA and the Cabela’s store in Kearney, NE.
Traveled into Iowa on Monday
Spending the night at the AmericInn in Grimes, IA.
Went and visited some old collage friends in Madrid, IA this evening, for some grilled dogs, burgers, chicken etc. Gabbed for a bit with them and their two sons. Had a great time visiting but it was getting late and we’ve been on the road since 6:30AM. Thanks Ben, Wesley, Heidi & Adam(front)
I saw the light (Virtual Cache)
Caught a beautiful sunset here in Vermilion OH, after a full day at Cedar Point. The setting sun lit up the sky with yellows, oranges and reds and slowly shifted to blues and purples. Great spot, definitely worth the side trip while traveling to CO.
After a full day, we were happy to get back to Camp Sandusky where we were staying. Here we are checking out a few photos on the laptop before climbing into our sleeping bags for the evening.
Here are more photos we took in Ohio.
Sunday @ Cedar Point
Sunday, July 09, 2006
We spent Sunday at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. Here, we are enjoying the Magnum XL-200 roller coaster (photo left).
The best coaster of the park is the Top Thrill Dragster that launches you from 0 to 120mph in just 4 seconds, to thrust you over a 420ft vertical tower with both 90° approach and decent angles. Photos don’t do this 42 story structure justice. It’s insane. However, after standing in line for over an hour to get on the monster, the other coasters in the park just no longer gave us the adrenaline rush. This ride should be saved for last.

Our second cache of the day. Great spot to cool down with a breeze off the water. Signed Logbook, left key chain, took nothing.
