HARTLAND, Conn. – Environmental police have arrested a Hartland man for illegal moose hunting.
Michael Lewis was charged with illegal taking of a wild quadruped after police received a complaint that he had shot and killed a moose behind his home.
Police say they found a moose carcass behind the home and 35 pounds of individually wrapped moose meat, along with a 12-point set of antlers.
Police say Lewis admitted shooting the moose for its meat. He was released on a promise to appear in Bantam Superior Court later this month.
It is never legal to hunt moose in Connecticut.
